Do You Ever Wonder?

If you have read any of the Old Testament Books in the Bible, you will find a lot of scripture detailing how one generation followed the Lord and the next didn’t. Like a yo-yo, in times of distress, assemblies of people praised God for their deliverance and yet, within a single generation, walked away from God because they had forgotten what they had been delivered from. If you look at the history of our country, you can very easily map out the same scenario.

Every twenty to thirty years, our country experiences a course of action requiring correction that imitates those in history. We have a penchant for remembering only so long that God blesses us by resetting our course. Too quickly, we become complacent, taking advantage of our blessings but forgetting or ignoring He who blessed us! With that forgetfulness, we drift into error, eventually creating a crisis that has us calling out to God for deliverance once again. This is the macrocosm of human reality without connection to the proper understanding of our relationship with God.

Ever wonder how we can get it so wrong so many times?

Each of us is a microcosm determining how things turn out for the whole human race, our macrocosm. Unfortunately, while we are hell-bent on figuring out who we are and what we are supposed to be, we forget the most essential aspect of our existence.  We are individually formed in the most magnificent, original, and unique design that has within it the knowledge of who we were created to be and the road map to how we can become exactly that. Say what? Yes, from before our space and time continuum was made, The Holy Trinity sat down and had a great conversation about you! They planned how you would look, your hair color, your name, what nation you would be born into, what time you were born into, and more.  You are a person of distinction that God chose to exist in this very hour of this day. With that kind of intelligence and authority, you can believe He didn’t get it wrong, so we don’t have to either!

Ever wonder why we miss the point?

Being uniquely made, you possess everything required to live and make a difference in this age. You may have heard that before, but do you know what it means? We have been inundated with messages that continually tell you to seek your best and highest but always involve exhausting work to attain the goal. Kings and peoples of old were the forebearers of this futile state of being. They are the road map to show you it is an impossible task. But like the people of old, we willingly adopt the improbable order of things, thinking we will do it better. Yet, we inevitably fall into the same trap, with the same soulless and empty outcome, and can’t figure out why. We second guess ourselves about the why and how of life itself. We ultimately bury any motivation as we enter adulthood, feeling beaten down by the world’s demands.  Yet, if we let ourselves believe that we have a helper who can make sense of our makeup, we would save time wondering and living more in heavenly wonder!

Ever wonder if we matter in the grand scheme of life?

Whether we accept the truth or not, we can only pretend to ignore the fallout of the choices made by us or for us. Once set in motion, success or failure becomes visible, populating our lives with joy or pain for ourselves and others.  It is that ripple effect we try to ignore when making choices, thinking to ourselves, “This only affects me, no one else.” or “I am doing this for myself; I don’t care if anyone else understands.” or “It’s my life; I don’t need anyone else to agree.” Only when we take time to see the bigger picture before making our decisions do we recognize the inherent truth that our actions do have consequences. God, our master architect, offers purpose to our lives so that we may bring His light to the world of man, beast, and nature. Accomplishing this feat through one thought-out decision at a time, we begin to see that what we were created to be is more significant than what it currently is. Everyone matters in the grand scheme of what was, what is, and what is yet to be!

Ever wonder if there is something good to believe in?

There is a truth that will never fail you. Jesus Christ is that truth. We don’t have to wait until we die to experience the glory of that truth. We don’t have to wait to be raptured to participate in that truth. We don’t have to keep a list of rules to live in that truth. When we let our hearts recognize He is the truth, He takes it from there. Heaven comes to earth in every heart that opens to Him, helping us to let go of any preconceived ideas of ourselves and yielding to the original blueprint prepared for us in and by love eternal. We learn to see everyone through the lens of His love, surrendering judgment to The One who saved us from judging ourselves. We no longer strive to live as human doings, but become human beings, “is-ing” our lives in a freedom and joy that the world’s cares cannot diminish.

“For we have all been thoroughly scrutinized in the judgment of Jesus. We are taken care of and restored to the life of our design, regardless of what happened to us in our individual lives, whatever amazing or meaningless things we encountered in this body.”  2 Corinthians 5:10 Francois du Toit, Mirror Bible The Romance of the Ages

Ever wonder if we have crossed the line and are unworthy to be loved?

You might wonder that, but the answer is no! God created you, and in Him, all the rules, all the rights and wrongs, and all the what-ifs are covered. He said he came for the lost and the broken. If that is you, He is here for you.  His message is…you matter! Your life matters. Your choices matter. His message is that in Him, He is free to be in you, wherein nothing is withheld from you. If you can’t understand that today, please know He will never stop waiting patiently for you. You are His beloved child, and He sent His Son, Our Lord, to show you the Way.

Ever wonder what life would be like if you just said yes to the glorious gift of Jesus Christ?

A lot of people talk about making decisions for Christ as if they initiated the search that brought them to the good news. The truth is there have been or will be moments when the Spirit of God breaks through the busyness of the day, the pain of a moment, or the distractions of the world. That still, small voice draws you to the acceptance and peace God has waiting for you to enjoy. You do not have to bargain with God to receive it. You cannot do anything to buy or earn it. It is the greatest gift a human being can receive.

When Jesus Christ redeemed the entire human race, past, present, and future, His act of reconciliation nullified any other conclusion to mankind’s downfall. No amount of our falling short or making mistakes can override God’s evaluation of us. Redemption is accepting the friendship of God from within us. God’s voice in Christ is now in us, and from that point, we begin the journey of being fashioned into the ambassadors of His Love. We become The God Players that live to exhibit and persuade everyone to see their redeemed identity.

My hope and prayer for you this Thanksgiving Season is that you hear that voice and gain the life you never thought possible.
